Le Cartet

It’s brunch time!!

We found another nice brunch place in the Old Montreal area. Le Cartet is not only a restaurant; they also sell jams, chocolates, cakes, coffee, tea, salads, etc… so many thing you can buy there. Colorful jars of jam and chocolate makes the restaurant look so cute!

All meals on the brunch menu come with a small cake, fresh orage juice and coffee. I like that! I ordered “Brunch de l’Atlantique” (top left pic), and my boyfriend ordered “Brunch des Cantons” (bottom right pic). If you like salmon, you will love Brunch de l’Atlantique! You’ll get a bagel with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs with salmon in it and deep fried cakes of potato and crushed salmon. It was really good!

It’s a really casual place and it can be bit noisy because it’s really popular. We had to wait 20 min to get a table. They don’t take reservations on weekends. But who cares about the time on weekends!? Take your time and enjoy the food!

Coo Rouge

My bicycle got a flat tire last week. As we were walking through the Gay Village, on our way to the bicycle repair shop, we noticed that quite a few people were walking into a small restaurant nearby. The place seemed nice and popular, so we decided to have brunch there. It turned out to be a great buffet-style restaurant!

The place is called “Coo Rouge.” It may look a bit small from the outside, but they have a really nice outdoor seating area in the backyard; in the shade of a large tree, surrounded by green plants. The waiters were really friendly and welcoming, and the food was homemade Quebecois style.

It was absolutely delicious! The beautiful weather made it even better. In short; we enjoyed it a lot! We discovered later that they only have an open buffet on Sundays. I want to go back and try one of their regular dishes someday! It seems like there are a lot of nice restaurants and cafes in the Gay Village, and I would like to discover more of them!

So maybe I should break my bike more often! :)

L’Avenue

I finally made it in! L’Avenue is the one of the places I’ve always wanted to go!
It’s in the Plateau area, ~5 mins from the Mont-Royal metro station. I tried to go a few times before, but there was always a long line, even in the snowy winter time. (Quebecois don’t feel the cold!? lol) It’s summer now, so we were prepared to wait this time! :)

They have a big and varied menu, so it was difficult to choose something!
I ended up to ordering an omelette called “L’Idaho” and we shared half a pitcher of mojito.

Their mojito was pretty good, however a bit juice-like. The omelette was huge and tasty! Composed of 4 Omega eggs, cheese, onions, bacon, potatoes and topped with sour cream. (As I remember…) I really enjoyed it! They even had Kobe beef burgers on the menu. I might want to try that the next time :)

The atmosphere inside was really cool. The waiters/waitresses were very friendly, wearing T-shirts with the number “69” on them. lol Be ready for some funky house music if go there!
